Windows · protocol v170

There is no launcher and no website account. Download, unzip, run — you make your character on the first screen and you are in.

Builds are handed out directly, for now

The client is a 235 MB download and the realm is a handful of people most evenings, so builds are shared on request rather than posted publicly. Ask and you will be sent the current one.

Valdrys — play build

The normal game, and the one you want. Windows, roughly 235 MB zipped. Unzip it and run Valdrys.exe.

Valdrys — debug & authoring build

The same game with the tools switched on: a performance HUD, the live FX tuner, the spawn editor, and a collision overlay. Useful if you are reporting a bug or helping tune things.

Getting in

  1. Unzip the whole folder somewhere — keep the files together.
  2. Run Valdrys.exe. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time, because the build is not code-signed yet: choose More info then Run anyway.
  3. Pick a name, a class and a face. Your login is stored on your PC, so the name is yours.

You should not need to edit anything

The client ships pointing at play.valdrys.com. Older builds shipped with a raw IP address that changed whenever the connection did — that is over. If you still have a server.txt with numbers in it, replace it with the one in this download.

If it will not connect

  • Check the server is up. It is one machine run by one person, and it is not up twenty-four hours a day.
  • Check line 1 of server.txt reads play.valdrys.com:4000. Only the first line is read.
  • Same house as the host? Some routers cannot reach their own public address from inside. Use the local address instead — the notes in server.txt explain it.
  • Firewall. The game speaks TCP on port 4000 and nothing else.

Getting in touch

Everything happens on Discord: asking for a build, reporting a bug, finding people to play with, or anything about your account — including having it deleted.

What you are agreeing to

By playing you accept the terms of use. What the game stores about you is set out in the privacy policy — it is a short list, and there is no email address on it.
