Questions
FAQ
What is Valdrys?
A 2D isometric MMORPG with an authoritative server, built from scratch rather than on an existing engine's multiplayer. Six classes, rolled gear, professions, guilds, instanced dungeons, a ranked arena and a full-loot PvP frontier.
Does it cost anything?
Not today. There is nothing to buy, no currency, no cosmetics store and no subscription. If that ever changes it will be announced clearly and in advance — not slipped into a patch.
Who made it?
One person, over a lot of evenings. The server is Go, the client is Godot, and the art is licensed or commissioned — never taken from another game. Everything third-party is listed on the credits page.
Is it finished?
No, and it says so. The systems listed on the front page are built and playable, but the world is small, there is one quest chain, and the Rogue class is announced without being finished — which is why you cannot pick it. Expect rough edges and expect things to change.
Will my character be wiped?
The intention is no. Characters have survived every update so far, and wipes are avoided because losing your progress is the fastest way to stop playing. But this is a game in development run on one machine, so it cannot be promised absolutely. If a wipe ever became unavoidable it would be announced first.
What are the system requirements?
Modest. It is a 2D game — if your machine is from the last decade it will run. The client caps its frame rate to your monitor and the heaviest cost is drawing ground detail, which you can turn down in Options if you need to.
Why does Windows warn me about the download?
Because the build is not code-signed yet. A signing certificate costs money and is on the list. Until then SmartScreen treats it like any other unknown program — choose More info, then Run anyway.
Is there a Mac or Linux build?
Not yet. The client is Godot, which can export to both, so it is possible rather than planned. Windows is what gets tested.
Can I cheat?
Not usefully. The client sends what you intend — "move here", "cast this" — and the server decides what actually happens, re-checking range and line of sight at the moment an ability resolves. Editing the client changes what you see, never what is true.
Is my connection secure?
Yes. Traffic is encrypted with TLS, and the client verifies the server's certificate rather than trusting whatever answers — so a machine on your network cannot read your session or impersonate the realm.
Will it be on Steam?
That is the direction. It needs more content, hosting that is not a home connection, and a pile of paperwork first.
How do I report a bug?
Grab the debug build, press F3 for the performance HUD, and send a screenshot with the build stamp from the title bar. That stamp identifies exactly which build you were running, which usually halves the time it takes to find the problem.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, on request, and it is genuinely deleted. See the privacy policy.
