Terms of use

Valdrys is a hobby project offered free of charge. These terms are short because the relationship is simple: you may play it, you may not abuse it, and it comes with no warranty.

1. Your licence to play

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to download and run the Valdrys client for the purpose of playing the game. You may share the unmodified download with friends. You may not sell it, or distribute it as part of anything you charge for.

2. What you may not do

• Attack, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the server or other players' accounts.
• Automate play with bots or scripts, or exploit a bug for advantage instead of reporting it.
• Harass, threaten or abuse other players, or post content in chat that is illegal, hateful or sexual.
• Impersonate the operator or another player.
• Sell, buy or trade accounts, characters or in-game items for real money.
• Extract the game's assets for use elsewhere. Much of the art is licensed to this project specifically and is not yours to redistribute — see the credits.

3. Your account

Keep your password to yourself; anything done with your account is treated as done by you. Accounts that break these terms may be suspended or removed, with or without warning, at the operator's discretion.

4. Your characters are not property

Characters, items, currency and progress exist on the server and are licensed to you for play. They are not your property, have no monetary value, and cannot be sold or transferred. The game is in development: balance changes, items may be altered or removed, and — though it is avoided wherever possible — data can be lost.

5. User content

You are responsible for what you type. Character and guild names that are offensive, impersonating or unusable may be changed or removed.

6. Availability

There is no uptime guarantee. Valdrys runs on a single machine operated by one person, and may be unavailable, restarted, or discontinued entirely at any time without notice.

7. No warranty

The game is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. You run it at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the game, including lost progress or lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes

These terms may change. Material changes update the date above and are announced in the news. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
